The questions in Italics are tiebreakers, meaning if 2 or more people get same number of correct answers, the one who has answered more number of tiebreakers questions will be declared winner. If two/more people have same number of correct answers with same number of tiebreaker questions, the person who answered earlier wins.

In case, you don't want to give the answers publicly (it will help people who see the quiz after you), you can email the answers to karthik.sriram@yahoo.com. But make sure you post a comment so that I know the chronological order of attempts!

1. Mahesh
2. Rajeev Menon
3. Aravindan
4. Karthik Raja composed the song
5. -- (Cheated, took the help of Google and found out the right answer!)
6. Relax
7. Shankar
8. The various characters were named after the ones who played them. (Well, there are some more unique things that I am able to see.)
9. Raja Raja Chozhan
10. The first letter of the titles of the given films are are in the sequence K-A-M-K-A-M or what??
Well, as it happened, I tried really hard, and I thought about a few other answers that aren't quite there:
a. The dialogues were written by a writer and not the director. (except Anjali)
b. There's a title song with the movie's title in its beginning. :) (except Mugavari)
c. Apart from these, there are some commonalities in cinematographers, music, madmen in the films, "colonies" in the films etc.

Oops, my answer for 9th is rather the first Tamil film in cinemascope and not 70mm! (Let me not divulge the correct answer now.)

Well, if the answer for the Taj Mahal question is indeed Mani Ratnam, I've this page and a few more similar news-aggregator pages to blame. :|

I remember posters when the film was announced which credited him for kadhai-vasanam, and knew for sure that Mani Ratnam was involved in the writing (at least, the dialogue department) of the film.

Karthik Sriram said...

As far as I have heard, Mani wrote the story. I have never heard Rajeev Menon writing anything - but I maybe at fault here.

Infact people told B.Raja's role in AE was a result of their association in T.M.

Same here, I was completely surprised about the Rajeev Menon bit myself when I stumbled upon it for the first time some months ago. So, I am not sure either.

P.S.:- Incidentally, Rajeev Menon's dabbling shouldn't come off as odd. The man has even sung a song in a Tamil film.

@Zero

Dude,

Don't tell me that. He has sung a song? Tell me which song that is... I shall try finding out too.

And BTW, do you have a blog? Please give me the link. And also if you are on orkut, mail me ur profile to my email given in the blogpost.
Thanks!

Here goes!

Regarding Taj Mahal, my hunch is that the story originated from Rajeev M., considering some news sites of those days mention this. (Of course, Bharathiraja usually adapts others' stories to screen.) As Mani got involved in it, may be, he developed it to a better shape and the story became his, so to say.

So much for a ultra-dud. (I must confess, I've actually spent more than an hour, or may be even two, looking for the movie online!)

I write here -- a tad too sporadically, I must add.

This page offers more clarity on how Rajeev Menon sort of vanished by the time they started out to make the film, and I remember Mani being credited for kadhai-vasanam in the "indru-mudhal" posters.

P.S.:- Sorry for the flurry of comments! :D
